Short bio: Dr. Huixin Liu has been an Associate Professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Science at Kyushu university, Japan since 2011. Her research interests include ionosphere-thermosphere response to geomagnetic storms and how they vary with lower atmosphere preconditioning, atmosphere-ionosphere coupling at multi-scales and gravity wave seeding of plasma irregularities. These topics are closely aligned with the CGS research goals. She is collaborating with CGS scientists in ongoing research and is excited about the possibility of developing a wholistic understanding of the forcing of the ionosphere-thermosphere system from above and below.
