Bin Zhang

Expertise: Theory and modeling
Science area: Magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling, planetary magnetospheres
Short bio: Dr. Binzheng Zhang is currently assistant professor in the Faculty of Science at the University of Hong Kong. His research interests include the development of high-quality numerics for solving the MHD equations, solar wind-magnetosphere-ionosphere-thermosphere coupling, and planetary magnetospheres including Jupiter, Saturn, Venus. The numerics and geospace related topics are closely related to the CGS goals, while the planetary research topics are extensions of the CGS model development, which demonstrates broader impact of the CGS. Dr. Zhang has been collaborating with CGS team members since 2007 and is enthusiastic about not only bringing the MAGE model to other (inhabitable) planets, but also training of the next generation of modelers together with the CGS team and other international collaborators.
