Jean Francois Ripoll

Expertise: Data, theory, modeling
Science area: Radiation belts, inner magnetosphere
Short bio: Dr. Jean-Francois Ripoll (HDR) has been a research staff member at the Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique (CEA, the French Atomic Agency), Physics Division, for the last 11 years. He currently holds the position of a Senior Scientist, with expertise in atmospheric and magnetospheric physics. He also holds an adjunct position at the LRC-MESO of Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan and is a member of the LMCE (Laboratory of Matter in Extreme Conditions), a new institute of University Paris-Saclay and CEA. Dr. Jean-Francois has collaborated with the JHU/APL team since 2015, working first with the CHIMP code and today with both GAMERA and CHIMP codes, developed at the CGS, to simulate active storm times and injections of energetic particles in the inner magnetosphere. He also supervises Ph.D. students who use the CGS codes for their research.
