My research focuses on the physical mechanism in space physics and the development of method- ologies to help uncover the underlying physical processes. I use numerical models to study space weather and coupling between neutral and charged particles in the upper atmosphere. I developed/adapted a multi-resolution data assimilation method into the space physics community, which improves the quantification of the drivers for space weather. I also developed a nested-grid module and incorporated it into a physics-based community model to better simulate/predict impacts from solar storms and terrestrial weather on the space environment.
